How can I move my releases from another distributor to you?
Your release has already been distributed by another company but you would like to transfer it to Jahin Music? That’s actually pretty easy! Your clicks/plays, followers and artist pages will remain unaffected by a transfer as long as you respect the following rules:
1. Please verify the takedown or cancellation notices with your current distributor, and get a hold of the label copy of your release(s), so you have the correct titles as well as all the necessary codes (GTIN/UPC, ISRCs, etc).
IMPORTANT: All metadata, audio files and codes (ISRCs/GTIN) need to be entered in exactly the same way as before in case of a change of distributors - otherwise you might not be able to keep your plays and followers. Please enter your Apple Music and Spotify artist IDs when creating your release in order to route it to the correct artist pages.
2. Create your release on Jahin Music.
3. In order to guarantee a seamless transfer, the release can only be in the stores simultaneously for a short amount of time. Make sure you complete the release on Jahin Music and also make sure that your old distributor will delete the release no more than one week after you have uploaded it on Jahin Music , so that the overlap is as short as possible.
IMPORTANT: After a transfer it may take up to one week until the plays will be displayed correctly in the stores.
YouTube Music plays will not be transferred.
Feel free to get in touch with us for help if you want to transfer your release from a different distributor. We’re happy to help!
What does a music distributor do?
In a nutshell:
Up to 100,000 songs are now uploaded to the digital stores every day. How is this possible? Via digital music distributors, i.e. companies that deliver the music of artists, both established and amateur, to download stores and streaming services such as Spotify, Beatport or Deezer. In the vast majority of stores, it is not possible to upload your music yourself, but you have to have the stores delivered by labels/distributors. These music distributors, also known as distributors, pay you your revenue for downloads or streams that you have generated in the stores.
Can it be more precise?
As an artist, digital music distribution has become essential to reach all your potential fans. Distribution gets your music into as many stores and to as many people as possible. Distribution also ensures that your music is monetized correctly. Once you have your music online, people can stream, download and buy your music. In return, you receive royalties (your income) depending on how and where your music is heard. Music distributors have different deals - with some you pay an annual fee, with others there are flat-rate models, while others take a percentage of your revenue. It's worth looking carefully and comparing so that you can find the best distributor for you.
What is the difference between a music distributor and a label?
A label and a music distributor are completely different companies with different tasks and goals. The aim of a label is to promote the music of artists and make it better known via networks. The tasks of a label are much broader and more specific than those of a music distributor, which is why they are not easily accessible to all artists. While a music distributor is usually open to everyone, regardless of the genre of your music or your level of recognition, labels only work with selected artists. You can be signed to a label and have your music distributed by a music distributor at the same time. They can, but do not have to, work together. The aim of a music distributor is not promotion, but primarily the distribution of your release in the stores and the management of your income.
In which format must the audio files be uploaded?
To upload your music to Jahin Music, your songs must be in the following format:
File type: WAV
Channels: Stereo
Sample rate: 44.1kHz
Sample size: 16bit
What are the guidelines for uploading my cover artwork?
Artwork should be in the .jpg file format. The minimum size requirement for album art is 3000x3000 pixels.
Streaming services will reject artwork that contains
A website address (URL)
Twitter name
The terms 'Exclusive' or 'Limited Edition'
Any image that's blurry, pixelated, rotated, or poor quality
Unlicensed/stock photography
Prices
Streaming service logos (such as iTunes or Spotify)
Nudity
Gross stuff
References to physical media (example: "CD" or "Compact Disc")
How long does it take until my release is available in the stores?
Once you have finalized your release and submitted it to us for review, we do a quality check, which usually takes around 48 hours on weekdays. Please allow additional time incase adjustments corrections are required.
After passing our quality check, the release is sent to stores. In theory, it can take up to 1 week for a release to become available everywhere. Unfortunately, we have no influence on the individual processing speeds of the stores.
Most stores, however, are much faster: Spotify usually only takes a few working days to put a release online, while Instagram/Facebook, Amazon, iTunes, YouTube and Deezer usually do it within one week.
The stores can best comply with a future release date if you have scheduled it far enough in advance (we recommend at least 2 week). If you are planning to pitch your music to Spotify, you'd have to upload your release with the aforementioned notice.
